Methodology of Lists — Relevance Rules: This year’s list begins with a focus on the increasing value of resonance in today’s B2B marketing landscape, highlighting influencers with audiences that actively engage with their content centered on the practice of B2B marketing.
Today’s B2B marketing influencers face higher expectations for content sharing than ever before, and the experts on our list all perform exceptionally well in terms of audience engagement and resonance.
We identified and validated the credentials of a powerful group of B2B marketing experts using a variety of ranking signals, including influencer marketing platform Traackr and other metrics.
Our list this year emphasizes the growing importance of resonance over mere follower numbers, as audience size alone is not a predictor of success, and we’ve also prioritized the degree to which each influencer’s social activity drives engagement on the topic of B2B marketing among their audience.
A variety of criteria are used to create such a ranking, including:
- Resonance in the audience
- The topicality of the content published by each influencer
- Network participation in on-topic content
Online data for these rankings is gathered not only from Twitter, but also from blogs, Instagram, Facebook, YouTube, SlideShare, and a variety of other platforms — this is important to know because many lists rely solely on Twitter and fail to account for relevant influencer activity from other social media platforms.
