Define Your Target Audience Clearly
If you’re about to launch a social media campaign, chances are you already have a target client in mind. That “person” is your target audience, and before you can begin, you must first get to know them.
Take some time to make a list of the following items and then fill in as much detail as you can for each:
- Age group
- Background in Education
- Family life (married, kids, etc)
- Purchasing Habits (online, in-person, researched, impulsive)
- What bothers them (their pain points)
- Values
By being as specific as possible with this exercise, you will have a clear picture of the person(s) you are attempting to reach with your launch. Keep this in mind as you proceed so that you can make decisions based on what is best for them. We have a variety of demographics, including teens attempting to obtain their license, adults attempting to obtain their CDL license, and drivers wishing to obtain a motorcycle license. As you might expect, these are very different groups, and we must tailor our marketing to each of them.
Establish Your “Why”
For a reason, starting with the end in mind is a popular marketing strategy. You’ll be able to make any decisions that go into a social media campaign if you understand WHY you’re launching it and WHO you’re launching it to. If a decision does not bring you closer to your WHY or benefits your WHO, it is not the best choice for this campaign.
So, why are you launching? Is it to increase brand awareness? Are you informing your target market about your new product or service offering? Or do you want to grow your email list in order to better serve your customers?
There is no right or wrong answer, but you must be certain before proceeding.
How Much Money Do You Want to Invest?
In business, it’s a well-known fact that you usually have to spend money to make money. This does not have to be a large sum in order to reap the benefits, but you must decide how much you are willing to spend on your social media campaign.
This amount can be spent in a single channel or spread across several social media platforms. If the latter is the case, you may want to invest a larger sum if possible. However, if you’ll only be marketing through one channel, you can start with a lower investment and then adjust as needed.
